Kretus Group Offers SpectraQuartz® Colored Quartz Aggregate made by Mineral Visions to Concrete Contractors in Southern California
CHARDON, Ohio, October 29, 2008 – Small- and medium-sized decorative concrete contractors in Southern California now will be able to purchase the SpectraQuartz® colored quartz aggregate at volume pricing, thanks to a new business arrangement between the Kretus Group and Mineral Visions Inc.
“We are very pleased to be able to offer to our members the SpectraQuartz line of colored quartz that is rapidly becoming the standard for any contractor who wants to add esthetics and durability to their concrete projects,” said Donna Gordon, president of the Kretus Group, a San Diego-based buying group established this year that provides services to decorative concrete contractors. “Our agreement with Mineral Visions to sell SpectraQuartz is another example of how Kretus Group makes the latest products available to our members at the most attractive pricing possible through the power of volume purchasing.” As well as volume purchasing, Kretus Group offers a variety of services to its members, such as in-depth training on how to prepare and apply coatings to concrete and marketing support for growing decorative concrete businesses.
Maureen Lynn, general manager of Mineral Visions, said her company’s agreement with Kretus Group will help introduce the versatile SpectraQuartz line to Southern California contractors that want to add visual interest and durability to commercial and residential flooring projects. Mineral Visions is a subsidiary formed by Fairmount Minerals Ltd. to market SpectraQuartz and other specialty coated quartz products. Fairmount Minerals, based in Chardon, Ohio, is one of the nation’s largest producers of industrial and commercial grade quartz.
SpectraQuartz is manufactured using a unique process in which high-purity quartz – one of the hardest minerals in the world -- is coated with pigment dispersions that were specially developed by Sun Chemical to permanently bind to the quartz surface. The product is extremely resistant to ultraviolet rays and chemicals, retaining its color and hardness after years of exposure to sunlight and flooring chemicals.
“Customers are limited only by their imaginations using SpectraQuartz to enhance the visual interest in their projects -- anything from a subtle tint to a bold splash of color,” Lynn said. “They can choose from our standard colors in the SpectraQuartz line or they can custom blend colors for a variety of appearances.” SpectraQuartz is currently available in a broadcast grade, and Mineral Visions will introduce trowel grade products in early 2009.
